JULY 15, 2010 – Blainville, QC – Once again the weather was spectacular as the Classique Internationale De Blainville (Jumping Blainville) continued at the Blainville Equestrian Park. The second day of competition in the Grand Prix Ring featured the 1.35m Open Jumper class and the Junior Amateur 1.30m Speed Class. Earning the top award in the 1.35m Open Jumper was Keean White and Concas. The pair raced the clock and tripped the timers to top the class. The Junior Amateur 1.30m Speed class was dominated by Lilis with Liam Dumon-Walker in the irons. The pair stopped the clock at 66.047 seconds to garner the win.
Today’s 1.35m Open Jumper class featured a course designed by Linda Allen. The first round included a triple bar double combination and an oxer-vertical-vertical triple combination. For the jump-off riders began with a bending line and then made a sharp right turn to a second bending line. Then they had to make a sharp right turn to the triple bar combination before galloping across the ring to a single vertical. The riders finished with a right turn to a single oxer going towards the gate.
Margie Gayford was the first rider to successfully tackle the first round course and advance to the jump-off with Winston, owned by Wingberry Farm. The pair was able to leave all the fences standing as they found their way over the track in a time of 44.216 seconds. Their clear effort set the pace and would eventually hold up for the second place prize. Kelley Robinson also had a successful short course with Cimarron Farms’ Caberlay, but their time of 44.299 seconds would fall just short of Gayford’s pace and earn them the third place ribbon.
Keean White and Concas, owned by Elm Rock, LLC, went late in the class and the opportunity to watch the other horses and riders compete proved fruitful. The new pair entered the ring with confidence and were able to leave all the rails in their cups, qualifying for the jump-off. They picked up a quick pace for the short course and soared over each fence easily. The duo galloped through the timers in 43.269 seconds with a double clear effort to take over the lead and win the day’s top prize.
“This is the first class that I have shown Concas in because we only got him three weeks ago,” noted White. “My plan for the jump-off was just to be efficient and stay on the gallop. He’s such a fast horse on his own and he’s quick in the air; today was a great day.”
Concas was purchased as new horse for Leah DeMartini, who will take over the reins in a few weeks. “I’m just feeling him out at this horse show and I may show him in Saturday’s Speed Derby or Sunday’s World Cup Qualifier,” said White. “He is a simple horse and all you need to do is find a good gallop and sit still.”
White traveled all the way from Spruce Meadows to compete at this year’s Jumping Blainville competition. “Blainville is a great show and we have been coming here for years,” he explained. “I always try to get here because the organizers are great and they work hard to put together a great event.”

The All Star Grand Prix weekend began with a Canadian PBR tour event on Friday evening, followed by the Kubota Speed Class on Saturday afternoon.

- Celena Z and Keean White at All Star Grand Prix
Celena Z has been jumping very consistently in the past month and is coming off numerous top ten finishes in a recent tour of European events, which had Rockwood’s Keean White making stops in France and Spain prior to returning home to Canada to compete in Ottawa.
The first round of competition produced only three clear rounds from the field, and Celena Z was able to move into the final round round with a 4 fault first round performance. During the final round, White rode aggressively through the tight course and turned in a clear performance with the night’s second quickest time to secure a 4th place finish behind Mac Cone, Amy Millar and Yann Candele.

SUNDAY SEPT 20, 2009 – BARCELONA, SPAIN – Team Canada competed in the 2009 Meydan FEI Nations Cup in Barcelona and earned a second place finish among a group of six countries including Spain, Poland, Norway, Finland and Hungary. The show jumping event was held over two rounds with each team of four riders being allowed to drop one score for each round. Canada’s Nations Cup Team consisted of Amy Millar on “Costa Rica Z”, Jenna Thompson on “Zeke”, Jonathon Millar on “Contino 14” and Keean White aboard “Celena Z”.
In the first round of competition, Amy Millar and Jenna Thompson opened up with 4 fault performances capped off by a clear round by Perth, Ontario’s Jonathon Millar. Keean White rode in the fourth position, but after knocking down a rail early in the round, chose to ride aggressively in order to prep his horse, Celena Z, for the second stage of the competition. White added, “after the first rail, I knew that we wouldn’t be in a position to better any of the scores of my teammates, so I made sure to get some additional rubs throughout the round to put Celena Z into a frame of mind to jump strongly in the second round.”
The Canadian team entered the second round of competition with a combined score of 8 faults, trailing behind the Spanish team, which managed to post three clear rounds in the first phase of the competition. Brother and sister Amy and Jonathon Millar, posted strong rounds of 4 faults each, and Keean White and Celena Z finished up with a clear final round to put the Canadians into a second place position for the Nations Cup Competition. The Canadians took home a prize of 25,000 Euros for the placing, but could not catch the Spanish team, which took home the victory in front of their home country crowd.

SEPTEMBER 6, 2009 – ROCKWOOD, ON – During the final week of August, Angelstone Farms of Rockwood, Ontario, hosted its first One Day Show open to all amateur and professional riders and their horses from the Toronto area. The show concept was conceived by Angelstone Farms owner and Canadian Grand Prix Equestrian, Keean White, who felt that the farm was ideally suited as a venue for riders to develop their horses in a cost effective way. White added, “since opening our stable in 2008, we have received a great number of requests from our visitors to host a show on our grounds. We began working on the concept of a One Day Show that offered superior footing and jumps, but was cost effective for professionals and amateurs to trailer-in their horses to earn some valued experience.”
Most shows in Canada run a Thursday to Sunday schedule and are costly due to the number of fees riders must pay for each of their entered horses. It is common for fees to total $200-$300 per horse before it even steps foot in the ring. After class entry fees, on-site stabling and daily care costs are factored in, the tally to show a horse over the course of a week can cost thousands of dollars. White recognized that there was a gap between these shows and schooling at home, and felt there was a demand for an event such as this to compliment the regular Canadian horse show circuit.
The first show of its kind was hosted on August 25th and was very well attended by area stables with 80 entries being spread across the day’s four jumper classes. The show was able to provide entries for each of the 1.0m/1.1m/1.2m/1.3m classes for $20.00 per round with no added show fees or expenses. The final class was a $2500 1.3m Mini-Prix, which was won by Whitney Linders aboard her horse “Danny Cool”. During the day, spectators were welcomed to Angelstone’s comfortable outdoor terrace where complimentary drinks were served followed by a BBQ for all the riders in attendance.
Plans are already underway for a series of three additional events for the 2010 show season using the same cost structure as the last event. The first event will take place the last week of April and take place over two days. There will be a $1000 class on the first day, culminating in a $2500 Mini-Prix on the second day which will use a reverse jump order from the results of the previous class. Additionally, White plans to add two additional One Day Shows during the summer of 2010 in between regular dates on the Canadian horse show circuit.
Photos from the event were provided by Ottawa’s Function2 Studios and are being offered to riders at no cost through the Angelstone Farms website. For more information on upcoming shows, readers may visit the following addresses for additional details:

August 29, 2009 – BRIDGEHAMPTON, NY – Angelstone Farms, an equestrian facility based out of Ontario, Canada, is pleased to announce the sale of top 16′2 hand Belgian bred gelding “Unari” to Elm Rock LLC of New York. Unari is a 9 year old show jumper that has shown successfully in the 1.50m classes in Europe prior to being imported to North America by Canadian Grand Prix rider Keean White who owns Angelstone Farms’ thriving sales facility located an hour west of Toronto.
White adds, “Unari has a great record with an amateur competing in Europe and I am very excited for this new partnership with Leah. Hopefully he can take her through the ranks over the next few years and possibly onto the Young Rider championships in the near future.”
Angelstone Farms is delighted to continue the strong relationship developed between Leah Demartini and her trainer Susan Humes, who have consistently turned to White for his keen eye in importing the finest amateur show jumpers from Europe. Ms. Demartini is looking forward to developing her skills with Unari during the Winter Show Circuit at WEF in Wellington, Florida, where she will be stabling at Ashland Farms.

Keean White and Celena Z have been on a roll over the last few weeks. In Bromont, White aboard Celena finished 7th in the World Cup Qualifier followed by a 5th place finish in the $125,000 CN Grand Prix. The pair followed that up by finishing 4th Sunday in the $100 000.00 Grand Prix in Caledon. Keean White and Celena were one of five clear rounds to advance on to the Jump-off. In the Jump-off a costly rail late in the course cost them a chance at the win.
Keean and Celena will compete next in Ottawa, ON followed by the Hampton Classic in Southhampton, NY.

ROCKWOOD, ON, July 20 – Angelstone Farms is pleased to offer the first of what we hope becomes a series of one-day shows in Canada. Over the past few years a major concern with fellow competitors is the cost of developing young horses. In an effort to create a solution to this problem here in Canada, Angelstone Farms has decided to run with an idea, in the hope of it growing and being something the Canadian Equestrian community can benefit from in the future.
Angelstone’s first trial run of this show concept will take place on Tuesday, August 25. A Tuesday was chosen so that it does not conflict with shows in the area that competitors have already committed to attending.
Angelstone will run four classes throughout the day, and entry fees will be $20 per Round. There will be no other fees. Competitors and their horses will have the option of completing up to three Rounds per Class with the first being scored.
In the future, we hope to create a series of six to eight shows throughout the summer at different farms in the area.
Angelstone Farms has recently opened a new facility in Rockwood, Ontario. We believe we can offer a product that can rival any show in Ontario with regards to footing, jumps and affordability. In order for this series to prosper, Angelstone Farms is seeking the support of all the local stables.
The final class of the day will be the $2500.00 Angelstone Farms 1.30m Mini-Prix. Entry fees will still be $20.00 for this class with no other fees.
Drinks will be complimentary throughout the day, and there will be a BBQ at the end of the day for the show’s attendees.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Angelstone Farms at (519) 856-0064 or contact Keean White directly at (561) 762-3137.
